To be eligible for these scholarships, international students must meet these conditions:

  • be a citizen of an African country
  • study in English
  • be newly admitted in the Fall term of 2022 or later in one of the specified undergraduate programs in the Faculty of Engineering, Science or Social Sciences

Available programs

African students studying in English automatically benefit from these scholarships when they enrol in one of these programs:

  1. Faculty of Engineering: Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering
  2. Faculty of Social Sciences: Sociology, Anthropology, International Development and Globalization, Conflict Studies, Public Administration
  3. Faculty of Science: all programs except the joint Honours BSc in Biochemistry / BASc in Chemical Engineering (Biotechnology); the joint Honours BSc in Physics / BASc in Electrical Engineering; and the Honours BSc in Ophthalmic Medical Technology

The Uggla Family Scholarship

The Uggla Family Scholarship Programme is delighted to provide ten undergraduate scholarships every year for students from underrepresented backgrounds, including financial support and mentorship throughout your studies at LSE.

For 2022 entry, seven scholarships are available for new LSE undergraduate students from the UK. Three scholarships are available for new LSE undergraduate students from any country outside the UK (who are classified as having overseas fee status). The Uggla Family has a preference for one overseas scholar to be from Canada.

Value of the award

UK Uggla Family Scholarships

The UK scholarship is worth £20,451 per year and will be renewed for each subsequent year of study, subject to satisfactory academic progress.

The annual award is made up of

  • – a tuition fee award of £4,250 per year
  • – a maintenance stipend of £16,201 per year to cover accommodation and other living costs.

Overseas Uggla Family Scholarships

The Overseas scholarship is worth £28,366 per year and will be renewed for each subsequent year of study, subject to satisfactory academic progress.

The annual award is made up of

  • – a tuition fee award of £11,665 per year
  • – a maintenance stipend of £16,201 per year to cover accommodation and other living costs
  • – a travel award of £500 per year to assist with travel costs.
  • Please note: Scholarship amounts may be adjusted to inflation and tuition fee increases.

Ashinaga Warwick Scholarships

Ashinaga initiative is pleased to offer twenty-five scholarships for students from sub-Saharan Africa to study and live at Warwick for three to four years.

The scholarships start in September 2022 and are aimed at future leaders who will use their education to support their continent’s development.

Students should apply through Ashinaga and are welcome in all academic disciplines. There will be five cohorts of five students.

The chosen scholars will receive:

  • Full tuition fees paid by Warwick’s Undergraduate Global Excellence Scholarships; travel, visa, and living costs paid by Ashinaga UK
  • Leadership training from Ashinaga UK, summer funding for internships to develop professional skills, and dedicated support from Ashinaga UK staff.

Albukhary Undergraduate Scholarships

This is a competitive scholarship based on academic merit and financial need and it has been made possible thanks to a generous donation from the Albukhary Foundation, a charity based in Malaysia with a focus on facilitating access to world-class education.

Previously, this scholarship has provided £20,000 of funding to each of our scholars for the duration of their undergraduate course. In 2020/21 and in 2021/22 we welcomed 10 Albukhary scholars to Warwick respectively.
