Details of the Developing Solutions Masters Scholarship in the UK for African Students
Developing Solutions was the University of Nottingham’s premier master’s scholarship. Established in 2001 for students from African, South Asian, and other particular Commonwealth countries. International students who desire to influence economic growth, environmental, structural, social, or political structures in their native countries should apply for this scholarship program. The University of Nottingham is providing scholarships that will pay 50% or 100% of master’s tuition for full-time students. Students who can effectively demonstrate their innovative ability in creating solutions that will touch their home countries and spark change are eligible for these one-year scholarships. They should be original and passionate.
Who is Eligible For The Masters Scholarship in the UK for African Students
To be considered for the Developing solutions masters scholarship for African students in the UK, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- be domiciled in Africa, India or one of the selected Commonwealth countries listed below
- be classed as an overseas student for fee purposes
- hold an offer to start a full-time masters (including MRes) at the University of Nottingham UK, studying in the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Faculty of Science or Faculty of Social Sciences
Kindly note that you are not eligible for this scholarship if you:
- are a current student or graduate of the University of Nottingham
- have already studied outside of your home country
- are currently studying in the UK

Only students from the following countries are eligible to apply:
Africa (all nations), Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Brunei, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Falkland Islands, Fiji, Gibraltar, Grenada, Guyana, India, Jamaica, Kiribati, Malaysia, Maldives, Montserrat, Nauru, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Pitcairn Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, St Helena, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tristan da Cunha, Turks and Caicos Islands, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.
Selection Criteria for the Masters Scholarship in the UK for African Students
The primary criteria that will be used to evaluate applicants will be their ability to articulate their goals and a strong plan for addressing important economic, environmental, structural, social, or political concerns in their home country. Strong candidates will be able to explain how this will help them and how it relates to the learning objectives of their course of study. When the tenets of Developing Solutions have been convincingly demonstrated, applications will subsequently be evaluated using more conventional scholarship criteria, such as your motivations for attending Nottingham and notable accomplishments. Applicants are advised to make sure they have enough time to think of thoughtful responses. When determining who receives a scholarship, comments and academic standing will be considered.
