Value of the Think Big Scholarship Award

The University of Bristol Think Big Scholarship awards for postgraduate international students are valued at £6,500, £13,000 and £26,000 per year and can only be used towards the cost of tuition fees.  While The Think Big Scholarship awards for undergraduate international students are valued at £6,500 and £13,000 per year and can only be used towards the cost of tuition fees.

Applicants may also be eligible to receive a £3,000 living cost bursary during their first year of study.

Eligibility Requirement for the Think Big Scholarship in the UK

To be eligible for the University of Bristol Think Big Scholarship in the UK, interested applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

For postgraduate:

  • You can apply if you are an overseas student for fee purposes
  • You can apply if you have applied to start any one-year, full-time master’s programme, or one of our eligible two-year programmes – Social Work (MSc) and Law (MA), starting in 2023.

For undergraduate:

  • You can apply if you are an overseas student for fee purposes
  • You can apply if you have applied to start any full-time undergraduate course, excluding Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science at the University of Bristol, starting in September 2023.

 

How to Apply for the Think Big Scholarship at the University of Bristol UK

There are two separate application forms for the Think Big Scholarship. One for postgraduate applicants and one for undergraduate applicants. Applicants are endeavor to fill out the relevant form correctly.

Personal details and application information

You will need to provide:

  • your UCAS ID (if you’re an undergraduate student), Student ID (if you’re a postgraduate student or if you’ve applied through the Global Transfer Programme) or Kaplan ID (if you’re a KICL student)
  • the course or programme of study you’ve already applied to (you must have applied to a course or programme to be eligible for scholarship opportunities).
  • your name
  • your email address (this is how we will communicate with you, so make sure it’s accurate and you have access to it throughout the year)
  • your nationality
  • your permanent country of residence (this is the country you are ordinarily resident in, not a country that you are only living in for the purpose of full-time education)
  • your current or most recent educational institution
  • details of any other funding you have applied for or are due to receive.

 

Application questions

 

There are three questions that you will need to complete. The maximum word count for each question is 200 words and each question is worth 10 marks.

The questions are different for undergraduate and postgraduate applicants. Make sure that you have selected the correct level of study to answer the relevant questions for your application. Applicants who have not responded to the correct questions will not be considered.

Undergraduate

  1. We are looking to support the brightest and best individuals who have ambition and strive to make a difference. Describe any special skills and proud accomplishments you’ve achieved, outside of your academic grades.’

  1. We are looking for scholars who will be great ambassadors for the university, recognise the power of diverse networks and communities and influence positive change. How do you plan to contribute to the student community at the University of Bristol?’

Use this space to detail your plans and how your contribution will link to your chosen course.

  1. We are looking for scholars who will use their time at Bristol to make the most of opportunities and realise their potential. Tell us about your future goals and how your chosen course at Bristol will support you to ‘think big’ and achieve them.’

Explain what has attracted you to study at the University of Bristol, as well as outline your next steps toward your career goals.

 

Postgraduate

  1. We are looking to support the brightest and best individuals who will actively contribute to the development of their nation in the future. Describe any special attributes or accomplishments that you think make you deserving of a scholarship.’

This could be any academic or extracurricular achievements, as well as your reasons for applying for a scholarship.

  1. We are looking for scholars who will be great ambassadors for the University. Give an example of when you have recently contributed to your community.’

This could be your school or university, where you live, or any other community you feel a part of.
